I have really been enjoying memoirs lately, and Marylee's story was no different. My heart broke so many times for her younger self and what she had to go through in her early years; not only with her own adoption, but with her abusive father, her strained relationship with her mother, and her troubles with her boyfriend, John. Though my heart broke for her, I also admired Marylee's strength and resolve to get through the difficult times and later find her son when she grew older. As much as she felt for him and his troubles with the feelings of missing out on his biological family, I thought it was so special that she could relate, she knew, she understood. Not many parents do. It's so sad to me all the heartaches and sadness these young teen mothers had to go through, with really not mental/emotional help for their own needs. They were made to wander through the muck all on their own. It was so poignant,
