This was a great book. Immensely personal and heart-wrenching it was so difficult to read some of the chapters and hear some of the same phrases my grandmother was told as a 17 year old, pregnant, unwed mother. My grandmother held a secret shame and guilt that was only evident when she passed and clippings about God forgiving unwed mothers were found in her Bible. My grandmother did get married before my mother was born in 1962 and just talking to her about life then was really eye opening for me. We discussed how the country at the time did not have the educational resources or even access to medical resources for young women and men. I loved the insight on the politics in that time because it just confirmed what my grandmother had already told me about her early twenties.I have a deep appreciation for this story bc I have a similar family history. This is a great book for anyone who has a heart for adoption or is even interested in the early 60's.
