A moving, emotional memoir about what happened to the author before, during and after placing a child up for adoption as well as how being adopted herself affected her life choices. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the ways in which it encapsulated so many emotions throughout its pages.

The story starts when the author is much older with a new husband and several adult children in her life. She has always wondered what happened to the child she had given up for adoption...what was his life like, how was his adoptive family toward him, was he loved? She is finally able to reconnect with him and soon finds herself retelling and reliving her life from the very beginning. Wrought with emotion, both good and bad, the author takes us on a deep and touching journey through her life as a product of adoption and through the process of placing her son up for adoption. From the memory of how she was told that she was adopted and its impact on her, to living in a home for unwed mothers while awaiting the birth of her first child during her teenager years, this is a story that will stick with you.
