I found the exploration of Ms. McDonald’s relationship with her son John to be interesting. It would have been difficult to give up a child, especially when

I’m glad Marilee was eventually able to find John. I felt they were just figuring out some things in their relationship as the story ended with John wanting to know what his mother was like when young. I felt cheated out of not hearing more.
