Based on the cover, I did not expect to be reading a serious memoir. I was expecting a thriller or mystery, until I read the summary. In a way, this is a mystery. The author explains giving up her first child at the age of 16 and then decades later trying to find the son she gave up. The emotion really came through of the pain she felt for her past and the role that adoption plays in children's lives. It is a well written book, just not a subject that I can connect to or find exciting to read about.
