The synopsis at first glance was pretty intriguing, and I think the plot and direction of the story are interesting. The cover is pretty cute as well. However, the writing style was a struggle for me to get through, and it didn't get better the more I read. I like straightforward writing, but sometimes, I felt like the writing in this book was a little too straightforward. At times, it felt borderline too simple, especially when it came to the use of adjectives. Sometimes, I wished there were more descriptions of people instead of the *adjective, adjective, noun* kind of thing. Also, sometimes, the main character kind of rubbed me the wrong way with the way they referred to people of other races, and her mentality towards white people seemed pretty harsh considering her mom is also white.
