I was very doubtful about this one from the blurb and description - it doesn't really sound like my cup of tea. But then I started reading and I was hooked immediately. It's incredibly well-written, with a good sense of place and very interesting characters. And quite a mystery at the center! I want to know what the heck is up with her mom and who her dad was and where he went, and where that cash came from... so many mysteries to solve!
I do like the cover - the cut-paper style illustration works really well with the differing skin colors and makes a design that really pops.
