You can never go wrong with a coming of age story and one with a mysterious parent twist is right up my alley. I think Amandla's story of trying to uncover her mother's past and who her father is will bring out some incredibly heartbreaking and heartwarming plot points. That alongside her rich friendship relationships will make for a beautiful book. All of this is already evident in the first part of the book where we see Amandla questioning what's happening in her life and the complex relationship she seems to have with her mother (or since she doesn't like that title, Annalisa).
