This book surprised me. I am interested to see where this story goes. Amandla and her mother Annalisa are poor and Amandla is of color when her mother is white. Amandla does not know her father, or where her mother came from. After finding a slip of paper in her mother's things with an address, Amandla hopes to find out where her mother goes a couple of times a month. What she finds is shocking to her. She has a grandmother, a grandfather, cousins and they appear to be rich. The story will continue from here. This was a thought-provoking start to the book. I already have theories about what might be going on.
