Marie Lu brings us a multidimensional spy story blending a mystery with a touch of romance. Winter is an internationally famous star, you would think that's the last person a secret agency would want for an agent, right? Paired with Sydney, an agent with a chip on her shoulder and secrets of her own, Winter must work with her to stop the next potential weapon of mass destruction.
Lu does a great job with character development to advance the story and make the reader feel for Winter and Sydney as the story progresses. While some of the tropes were pretty typical and plot twists somewhat predictable, I still found myself being drawn to the characters and investing in how their journey will end. Lu writing isn't confusing or convoluted, ensuring that we, as the reader, have an enjoyable time reading this medium paced spy novel with a splash of romance. I would look forward to seeing what the next book in the series brings to our two young spies.
