Stars and Smoke by Marie Lu is packed with so much action.
Not just espionage and fighting, but emotional too.
At first (and the reason for 4 stars), I had a very hard time getting into the story. I couldn't relate to the characters, and until later, I was finding it hard to even care.
But the plot of the story and the character bits and pieces of their pasts eventually dragged me into the story and I couldn't put it down until I was forced to with the ending of the book.
Lu is wonderful with writing in conversations and the actions scenes of the book. Her descriptions make it easy to imagine yourself there, and they never felt overly descriptive.
I am really happy that I was given the opportunity with Bookishfirst to read and write a review for this book. I will most certainly be looking forward to getting my hand on the next part of Winter and Sydney's story/mission when I can.
