Stars and Smoke is a modern day spy story that involves a young adult (19) spy and a pop star that has been recruited for a specific job. The story is very engaging and keeps the reader turning the pages to see what happens next. The chemistry between Winter and Sydney is good and I found myself rooting for them to become more than just co-workers. I found the plot interesting and it loved the twists and turns the story took as we found out more about the "target," his family, and his entourage. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens next.
I would recommend this book for grades 8 and up. I would definitely have it on my high school library shelves. This book would be great for anyone, including adults that like YA, that loves a good mystery or spy story with a bit of romance/tension between the main characters thrown in.
