I'll be honest that I was a bit disappointed by this novel.

I thought it was going to be a fun rom-com, with some action, that I was going to love. That wasn't what I got, unfortunately; nothing really happened in the book until the last quarter of the novel. By that point, I just wasn't really interested in this story anymore; and it was too late to grab my interest.

The plot was predictable, which isn't always a bad thing, but I was hoping that the story would bring something more unique to the genre. I also felt that both the characters and the romance, lacked depth. They needed more time to develop.

I totally understand that some stories are plot-driven, some are character-driven, and some lie somewhere in between. Unfortunately when both the plot and the characters are weak, however, it lends itself to a somewhat boring story.

I would be open to reading other works by this author in the future. But I think I may just stick to her fantasy novels.
