When I first Saw that Marie Lu was writing a bodyguard romance, I tackled the opportunity and snatched the book up. I have always loved her work so much, it’s like everything she reads is just so amazing, and Stars and Smoke was no exception. The characters in this book have my whole heart. I don’t care how difficult they can be at times, I just love them so so much. This book is quite different from Marie Lu‘s other works, and that can be seen even from the first chapter, but it was still so fun to read and it still had those obvious Marie Lu parts in it, which I loved. What really got was the the plot twists!!! It was wild. The only reason that this book is not five stars is that it wasn’t anything super ground breaking. While I loved the story, it just didn’t feel very five stars. Maybe 4.5. overall, I loved this book and WILL be picking up the second when it releases.
