I love LOVE all of Marie Lu's works, but I was pleasantly surprised that this one was not the typical dystopian world setting that she usually sets her books in but more of a contemporary setting. And as a big fangirl of several pop idols (especially Kpop and Cpop) I can feel the familiar fandom context that winter has to go through, unfortunately, that's what comes with being a big super idol. The constant screaming fangirls, paparazzi, and getting invited by a criminal boss to perform for his daughter might sound cliche but this has actually happened to a kpop boy group a few years ago. Although the two main characters have not met yet, I am super excited to see what kind of sparks and chemistry that they will foster throughout the story!
