Mixed feelings
First of all, this book is absolutely stunning. The cover is perfection and the title on the pages adds an amazing touch. I have been meaning to read this author and am glad I finally have as she is clearly talented and her book had diverse characters.
I liked the world building but I have several questions about the world this is set on but I think that was an intentional choice. Character development was mixed in that Talin was really fleshed out but I never got a good feel for Red and who his character is. I felt the plot was well paced and kept you wanting to turn the pages. I really enjoyed most of all seeing the interactions between Talin and her friends, as well as the fighting scenes.
This is the first in a new series so it doesn’t read as s standalone.
