I want to start out by saying that this book is nothing new. It follows the same framework as pretty much every YA book existence; "Oh, we're the best fighters in the world and then evil person attacks us and then blah-blah-blah happens and then people fall in love and then more bad thing happen!!"

I'm not saying that that is a bad thing persay, but it is very , very cliche. I usually love Lu's books but for some reason, this one really didn't do it for me. The first person narraration, Talin's way of thinking and speaking, and just the voice were very passive. Talin didn't really seem like an active protagonist.

The book isn't terrible, but it is mediocre at best; Lu disappointed me a little with this one.
