In true Marie Lu form this book was nothing short of epic! Marie Lu does such a fantastic job at world building especially in dystopian worlds with complex science and technological aspects. Although she had these intricate systems in place she makes the characters and the world feel so real and relatable. Much like her Legend series I was hooked from the very first page. The plot was pumped full with action, war, science experiments, grey lines of morality, and also beautiful friendships and relationships that grow and thrive despite their gellish surroundings. I absolutely loved the bad ass warrior that out main character Mara becomes. Being a refugee and a women she has absolutely everything stacked against her. She has the spirit and will of a fearless warrior and she will not stop fighting for her people, family, and what she believes is right. This was an absolutely epic page turner!
