I gave this book 3 stars simply because I feel like I didn't give it a fair shot on my first attempt at a read through but also don't ever plan on going back to try it again. Any time a book/series tries to introduce a whole new world of language, culture, and characters it can be a struggle. This author may have done it well, however I just simply could not get into it enough to tell if she did or not. The sudden introduction to this new land was really jarring to me but that may have been because I wasn't sure what I was getting in to when I picked it up from my library or because it was such a departure from the book I finished just before it. I said in my first impression that this may be the book that gets me into this author, but it looks like it isn't. Hopefully one day I will be able to find a place to jump in to her other works as I know Marie Lu is beloved by many.
