Marie Lu has a way of making me care about characters and envision a whole new world in a very short amount of time. Though we were only introduced to him for one chapter, I still feel upset with Corian's death, and I felt for Talin when Corian's family would not accept his uniform. I loved the concept of the strikers and the fact that they must be silent and sign to one another while hunting ghosts.

I hope that the character's inability to speak doesn't get magically fixed later in the story. There was one sentence saying that she wasn't sure if her not speaking was due to the scars in her throat or do to her trauma. I hope the great disability representation doesn't get overwritten to be "fixed" so Talin is "normal" later on. I suppose if it is an exploration of her trauma and overcoming trauma, it might be OK -- it is tough to tell at this point in the book.
