The strong opening got me hooked and I can vividly picture everything with the descriptions. How scary and disturbing are those Ghosts!? Then the story continues straight into the action and I want to keep reading. Besides the amazing imagery, I really like the way the author introduces the characters. In just a few sentences, I empathize and root for Talin and I felt so invested in Corian that my heart broke at the end of chapter 1.
There were many parts of the story that reminds me other works: I imagine the Ghosts to look like the monsters in A Quiet Place, the elite group of Strikers and the very specific way of killing Ghosts reminds me of Attack on Titans, and the hierarchical structure inside Mara along with the discrimination against refugees reminds me of every other fictional dystopian story. Since I like all of those stories/genres, I really like this story because it reminds me of them )](but also that it's not quite the same).
The cover is very eye-catching and the font is cool. I would love to read this entire book and I will be looking into other novels by this author!
