There is a reason Marie Lu has had so much success in the YA world and Skyhunter is yet another example of it. Lu's ability to combine her understanding of YA fiction with compelling stories, strong, defined characters, and an immersive experience for the reader is exceptional and definitely on display in her latest book.

With notes of The Hunger Games and the Scythe series, Lu offers a fresh take on a dystopian society and gives us an exciting protagonist with an intriguing but still relatable backstory. I especially liked that Talin is voiceless and uses sign language to communicate, as do all of the Strikers. It's a nice nod to representation without being heavy-handed.

Lu spares no expense when it comes to action, plunging the reader straight into a high-stakes world with immediate consequences. I, like many other readers, can't wait to see what happens next!
