The cover of this novel is absolutely gorgeous, but I think the sub-genre just isn't my thing. I'm not a huge fan of military-style sci-fi/fantasy, and that's precisely what this is. So far, the character development of the MC is fine and somewhat engaging, but not enough to overcome my antipathy for the genre. Also, the plot beats for the first section here are a bit cliched, though I do love the explanation and description of the horrific "Ghosts" that the characters are killing.
