I am a huge fan of Marie Lu’s other work, so I was very excited to read this novel. Fortunately, it surpassed all my expectations and more. As usual, Marie Lu’s world building was incredible. Everything was so fleshed out and it felt like I was really in the world. I don’t usually read high fantasy because of how hard it is to get into, but I did not have this problem with this book.
I also really enjoyed all of the characters. They were portrayed as flawed individuals, but still very complex and unique. Everyone had their own motivations and personal aspects, and I found them all very like able.
The themes of “Skyhunter” was also incredibly well articulated. I really connected to the message of hope and the lengths people will go to for freedom. I loved how the protagonist was willing to do anything to save and protect the people that she loved.
