I've been on a long term one shot kick. Even books that were part of series, I could never get past the first book, even though I used to love series growing up. No one plot/world could just hold my attention that long. That changed with SKYHUNTER. I honestly don't know what about it grabbed my attention, but I just couldn't put it down. I finished the first book and immediately was on the bus to the bookstore to get the second (which, FYI has an even prettier cover than the first). All in all, I guess you can say I'm happy.

This book also brought a lot of nostalgic feelings with it for me, containing a lot of the same tropes and dystopian themes I grew up with. As weird as it sounds, complicated dystopian fiction brings me back to simpler times, even as I don't see as much of it coming out nowadays as it did in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

I look forward to checking out Marie Lu's backlist some more soon.
