I loved that the world was immediately immersive. There was no gradual drawing in of the reader. The reader was THRUST into this new and violent world, without warning. Every paragraph visually described the area and the potential fate of the people fated to live there.
The characters were alive, and vivid, and immediately believable. Clearly this is a book that is to be devoured in great, greedy gulps.
