I wasn't sure I'd be interested in this book from the description. It sounded like the kind I'd enjoy, but for some reason I just wasn't that into it. As I continued a second time though, I got more into it. The initial portion with Corian was not my favorite to be honest, and the MC seemed really self-pitying and not what I was interested in. I liked it more as the story pivoted to it's main plot, though, so I had lowish expectations and ended up feeling like it was better than that, but still pretty average.
