This book is about a Chinese girl from Hollywood who craves nothing more than to be a star on the big screen. Luli begins to to do whatever she needs to , to get into that yearned for spotlight. Siren Queen starts way too slow for me & at times is a bit confusing. With Luli's "exotic" beauty she very easily makes headway into that aforementioned spotlight, but it comes at a cost.

I was not interested in this book cover and it's name. I was hoping for a more moody and magical read but the "magic" mentioned in the synopsis is used more allegorically than literally, in my opinion.

The magic in this book had potential to mix two very different genres of Old Hollywood and Dark Magic to make a really interesting read and that's sort of what I expected. I couldn't understand where it came from or how it worked because it was kind of glossed over.
I did enjoy the fact that our main character was a woman of color who was also queer. Greta seemed very plain and boring to me but their love seemed to resonate even after Greta was gone. This book was just not for me, but there is for sure an audience for it, perhaps I'm just not smart enough to follow!
