I really enjoyed this book and it's atmospheric setting!
I think my favorite aspect of the book has to be the magic system. I loved the dark elements of the magic, and overall just how enthralling it was. I think the dark magic really made the stakes higher and it brought out the different elements of how this magic could be implemented in Hollywood.
I also really enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and individual characters themselves. I think that the characters and their relationships were very well written, and you could really see the depth and care between them.
I think another one of my favorite things about this book is how it handles Luli's Chinese American identity and the discrimination she faces because of it. I liked that the author showed how significant it was in her life but also how she was able to find solidarity.
