Siren Queen is a book about a young girl, desperate to start a career in Hollywood during the golden age of movies. She will do whatever it takes to cement her place and create a name for herself. This book was an unexpected read since it weaves themes of fantasy and magic within the main themes of the book, but I found myself looking under the surface to glean the jewels of symbolism presented. It was a very strange, and dark tale. This read more like a Greek play to me, filled with characters desperate for answers, and desperate to make a name for themselves; to achieve immortality. Especially in the world of film, people do live on forever, but to get there the actors have to reinvent themselves, becoming something they are not, starting with changing their names. This was a book about identity, acceptance, monsters, and magic. The writing style is beautiful and full of symbolism. The story flows nicely, and while I didn’t feel necessarily attached to the main character, I hoped for the best for her, I wanted to see her find what she was looking for. I thought the cover for the book was also beautiful and intriguing.
