Magical, mesmerizing and oh so very intriguing! A stunning historical fantasy with a menacing behind-the-curtain look at 1930’s Hollywood and the dark underbelly within. Twisted and infused with magic and brutality. Nghi Vo is a genius with their use of magical realism, historical fiction and infusions of issues that still haunt our current silver screen landscape.
The cover image and background of the main character reminds me greatly of Anna May Wong. As with Nghi Vo’s release last year, The Chosen and the Beautiful, I hope this will continue with a unique and exciting retelling of well known people and stories of our past. I cannot wait to read more!
