Vo has a unique ability to take an underrepresented group during the fascinating and fast-paced first few decades of the twentieth century and imbue just enough magic to it to elevate it to the extraordinary. So far I like Siren Queen better than her previous book, and this may be because it's original instead of a reimagining of another book.
