Tribe Mentality
This book had me hooked from the first line. And while that first line had me dreaming of when I could be back at a college field this fall as a spectator, the chapters that followed quickly turned things around and gave me a new viewpoint to consider. We often do not stop to think, as we cheer and scream and holler for a team, just what goes on behind closed doors - what is it like to spend day after day working hard towards a goal that may never turn into a career, to run sprint after spring, watch tape after tape, and to live, breathe, and sometimes die for the one thing you've always loved? Salter gives new heart to a sport; he brings new perspective and mystery and life. If I could see this one as a series OR better yet as a tv miniseries, then it would only be better. The culture of football, whether tribalism or not, is one to be explored and understood.
