I thoroughly enjoyed this book and other readers will too - simply as a fiction book. Readers do not have to be devoted football fans or former players who know the games rules backward and forward. The opening chapter is quirky enough to grab one's attention. Wally slams on the brakes on a New Mexico road to pick up a a large, road-kill raccoon for a food treat for a gray wolf. Then his aunt asks him for help with a recurring issue and tells him to handle it before he gets high.

But for die hard football fans, have no fear. The action continues with details about fancy locker rooms with team insignias in the custom carpeting. Readers who don't know about athletic scholarships versus walk-ons, you will gain some knowledge about how the building of a team takes place. However, it's done as part of an interesting story. There are lives ruined by lies and adoring fans. Simply a good book. I knew I would like it when I read the preview pages, and I couldn't be happier that I won a copy of Sins of the Tribe right here on BookishFirst!
