Not into football, but looks like an interesting story in spite of it
Wally and Henry are brothers who play football. Henry is "shy" and only does as Wally says, so Wally is the holder and Henry is the amazing kicker.
Somewhere in the story yet to be read, it sounds like the experience turns more than sour and Wally is out. Where Henry is, we don't know, but while Wally hides out at his aunt's art colony, his presence is requested at another football event years later.
I hate football, but the wholesome part of the book might be interesting.
