The excerpt I read didn't show me how the tribalism dominance aspect of the novel is going to factor, but instead focused on 2 brothers, Wally and Henry. Henry is "extremely shy" in Wally's words, but can block out others on the opposing football team and kick like a superstar. If this book was nothing more than the love between 2 brothers, I think it would be worthwhile.
