S.A. Lelchuk's debut novel is one that will be remembered long after the pages are read. The writing is quick and engaging, accessible and thoughtful, exciting and well paced. I am a fan of books with strong female leads that don't go over the top, and this hits just right. Nikki gets hurt enough to not be invincible, but strong enough to take down even the most hulking threat.
What I enjoyed most about this novel is the layers written into Nikki Griffin. Sure she's a kick ass private investigator and protector, but she is also tender and gentle. I loved how Lelchuk gave her brains, making her character sharp- and it's usually her out-thinking her opponent that eventually gives her the leg up. I am looking forward to reading more about Nikki Griffin and I hope her story continues.
