I'm fairly torn on how I felt about Save Me from Dangerous Men. For the first half of the book, I was definitely along for the ride- a vigilante, bookstore owning private investigator who takes down abusive men as a hobby? I was in. However, the second half of the story focused more on the job she had taken as a PI, and at that point, the violence levels got harder to bear (there's basically a torture scene at about the midpoint). The backstory on Nikki's past, when revealed, is frankly heartbreaking.
Apparently this is the first book in a series, and I wish it were a standalone. Nikki Griffin had already been through a lot before this book started, and after what she experiences in this book, I feel that she's been through plenty. While I'm aware she's a fictional character, I want her life to quiet down a bit after this story!
