I love a strong female and the writing style made it seem like an old timey PI. However, it seemed like it was trying to0 hard. Everything seemed forced - making a big deal about how she was a strong female character rather than just having her be one. It made me go back and see if the author was man, which yep. Maybe it gets better as he gets into the groove of writing from a female perspective, but if not then he needs more practice.
