"Savage Legion" was much too heavy on the upfront world building. World building is a delicate art and not something every author can do well. Books like this that kick right into it makes it feel like an information dump and make it tough to get to know the characters. Admittedly, I am not big on "fantasy war" novels so this is not the right book for me!
