There wasn’t much to read off of from the synopsis, but I did wonder if it involved a main character who struggles to rise up the ranks - especially as someone who began from the bottom of the ranks, so to speak. So I became curious of the unknown main character.
The book cover made me realize that the main character is potentially a cis female. She looks fierce and determined and she probably helped start the fire. She looks like she can defend herself with a weapon, and does so with pride.
I’m not quite sure if she was in high standing - she might’ve been, a little, since she does have people to open the doors for her - but it doesn’t look like she started at the bottom of the chain. At least, not at the beginning of the story. But due to the loss of her husband, and hearing that he might’ve betrayed the Gen, Lexi is forced to realized the worse consequence: her Gen, I think, is now forced to leave the comfort of her home and to not even be recognized as a Gen. This doesn’t bode well for Lexi, but she knows her husband wouldn’t betray her Gen like this and decides to find a way to prove the council wrong.
Lexi remains headstrong, even through such a stressful time, so I have no doubt that she’ll be able to face what trials she has to go through. I’m very curious to read her story further one day.
