The world set-up by Matt Wallace is very intriguing. A supposed utopian society composed of businesses called "Gens" that are supposed to be more than just family-oriented fulfilling the needs of the country in a fairly socialistic/communistic state. The book looks like it could have an interesting discourse on gender by having a group of folks called the "Undeclared" who refuse to select a gender and be "fixed" by the state if needed. Additionally, with the vague introduction of the "Bottoms", aka the poor, and the "Aegis", aka the leadership/rich, there's definitely a good set-up for a clash potentially brewing.

This book definitely has my interest piqued in just the first chapter.
