This is a pretty standard thriller including computer hacking, financial computer crimes and various intelligent agencies. Tyler Jackson and his crew of hackers and intelligence agents are chasing an elusive computer crook known as Daemon. Tyler is chasing Daemon because the Russians are paying him to. Tyler used to be with the FBI, but now he's strictly freelance.
Money is mostly just numbers on a screen. Very little of it is in real form. So when a hacker gets into the financial systems of the country and effectively shuts down the machines that hold our money, it shuts down the country and, eventually, the world. No ATMs, no credit cards, no cash transfers. The characters of this book are on both sides of this fight. No one gets out unscathed. Tyler and his crew are the apparent winners, although they are scarred by the fight.
Like all good thrillers, if you stop and think about what is happening, you can get scared. If you let the story run, you get a good ride on a top notch roller coaster. I liked the story.
I received the copy of the book I read for this review from BookishFirst.
