I enjoyed reading the first couple of chapters a lot more than I expected. Based on the description of the book and the cover, I really didn't think it was for me. However, once reading it, I got immediately sucked into the fast-paced action that reminds me faintly of watching a good crime/drama/action TV show. One of the biggest things I didn't like was the feeling that I was missing information that I needed to know, like this would be a sequel that I didn't read the first book of. However, as far as I know, this is a standalone.
