If the stereotype for women's lit is romance then for men it's this action trope. Russian spy or agent of some sort steals a piece of information and/or information and only one rogue CIA agent can stop him. At this point this trope isn't just boring but out of touch with how theft of this kind works. Why would a country/agency go through any of this when they could just hack accounts? And if they were just hacking accounts, why would there be some lone dude running around trying to stop this hacker when a good firewall would solve the issue?

Honestly, this book comes off as early 90's plot devices and needs a 21st century update.
