Lari Ramires and her family have been feuding with the Molinas across the street for decades. They own rival bakeries that either sell sweet or savory items. When her grandmother passes away, Lari is lost, and it doesn't help that a chain grocery store has moved to town and has forced a lot of small businesses to close. Lari must do the unthinkable and team up with Pedro Molina in order to save both of their bakeries. Can they save their bakeries together?

This is a very cute Romeo and Juliet retelling set in the streets of Brazil. There was a little too much angst for me, and jumping to conclusions. The pacing was also a bit off where the first 2/3rds was slow. I did like the setting and description of the baked goods. I was also hoping that there would be a recipe for the cake in the back of the book since that was such a defining feature.
