I DNFed this book at 100 pages.

At least 4 pop culture references within 40 pages that were unrelated to anything in the actual plot - thrown in to make the story relatable?

So much family history that I got bored very quickly. It felt like the author rehashed it a bit too. It was like the girl couldn’t stop talking about her grandma and the feud between the families when tbh, I didn’t need that much backstory. In those 100 pages, not much was actually moving the plot forward.

I also really hated how young the two teens felt. Their petty argument at the chalkboard? Wow. They acted like they were 13, not 17/18. There’s a big difference between enemies to lovers and whatever this was…. It felt like they were too petty and childish.

I skipped to the end and saw that the mom went to college. Hahahaha. Did I mention I hate when the parents project their goals onto their child? That plot is so frustrating and I didn’t like how is was done here.

I won’t be reviewing this book anywhere else since I have not finished it completely. The rating given is what I would give what I read of it.
