I was very intrigued by the blurb. But the first few chapters are slow to get going. We meet all of the main characters, but most of the plot is still left to be developed. I found myself skipping descriptive chapters, that's not a good sign when I'm doing that after two chapters. I am not sure I would pick this one up again. Even though I really enjoyed the main character. She was well rounded, had cool friends and family. It was just the pace of the plot. The best friend seemed a bit of a simple character for a person living in New York City. Loved the uncles. I could see myself reading the rest of the work just for their plot line. I haven't read anything else by this author, so this might be their typical style.
