Roomies is the story of Holland, a woman living in New York who is somewhat lost in terms of her career and her personal life, and Calvin, a sexy Irish musician she meets when he is playing his guitar in the subway station near her apartment. They end up marrying so he can stay in the United States and perform in her uncle's musical, and of course they fall in love, as happens in all the best marriage-of-convenience stories. This book sets itself apart not only with the excellent writing of Christina Lauren but also with the rich and deep way in which the relationship is portrayed. The authors do not shy away from complicated moments between Holland and Calvin, and their happy ending is hard-earned and deeply satisfying.
