Holland has had a secret crush on the busker she sees performing at the subway station for months. When she had some liquid courage, she finally talks to him. Unfortunately, things go horribly wrong. Why she can't stay away from him is bewildering for her, especially since he didn't help her.
When her uncle, who is more like her father, needs a musician for his Broadway show, she suggests Calvin. There's only one problem; he is in this country illegally. When a sarcastic solution is offered up, it is turned down but she b can't stop thinking about it.
When they both agree to get married, they think it will be easy. As they get to know each other, her infatuation grows, but she isn't sure what she can believe. They each flirted with the other, subtly and nut so subtly sometimes. Things are going great, and they are happy, until old secrets are revealed.
The conversations were real, like conversations I would have. When Holland was in pain, my heart hurt for her. There were times I wanted to shake her and tell her she needed to communicate with him better.
I would love another book with these characters, because I want ready for Calvin and Holland to end. Maybe a short novella will materialize with an update on them or Holland's uncle's. Our her brother.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
